My name is Hiramys Santiago. I’m a professor of Educational Technology at The University of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla. My job is to prepare future ESL teachers to integrate technology in their future classrooms. This course, TEED 4020: Computer Assisted Instruction, is a requirement for their BA since their degree is in English Education for Elementary or Secondary with Instructional Technology.

I have an MA in English from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio and a Certificate in Instructional Technology from Penn State, World Campus. I am a native of PR and my first language is Spanish. I learned English in the public school system. By the time I moved to the US for the first time, I had a BA in English from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez.

My students are bilingual in English and Spanish and live in Puerto Rico at the moment. Most of them have lived in the US at one time and it is always a possibility for them to return once they have completed their degrees.
